Great wine guide. It has gave me lots to think about next time I am buying and tasting wine. Thank You
As you can see I am not that up on this computer lark so the above will take you to my site and give you an indication of what I am doing. This is not the normal type of wine book (yes it is on the way these stories are from it) the cellers here are steeped in history and the wines are fine country ones. I say country wines as each village has its own celler, story and history. Some dramatic some ordinary but all part of the wine story.
I started with this one and am well on the way with others one of which will need three trips to tell the whole story of their wines. There are some wines now in UK restaurants selling at high prices from little cellers in the region. My Cava story should be quite interesting.
I have to say I am not an expert I drink what I like not what I’m told is best and along those lines have found many fine wines. They make a mean Vermouth here, often matured in American oak barrels plus a Mistela that’s sweet and when served chilled just perfect for drinking anytime.
regards
Michael
Thanks, Ewan. I really enjoyed your guide – with some laugh out loud bits, which is refreshing in a wine book!
Ta very, Kerry
Really enjoyed reading that, thank you. It gave us a fascinating insight into why we like some of the wines that we automatically opt for, but never quite knew why!
We’ll be looking out for some of the less well known ones now too.
Ewan,
Just getting into wine, honestly, so this is exactly what I needed, thanks!
A really enjoyable read, Ewan. Thank you. I reckon this would make a great short video intro to wine and it would help a lot of people cut through the initial fear of “not knowing”. And we would be happy to help you spread the word. Cheers!
Wine for me is a statement on how we look at things, we either drink as we are told or drink as we like and risk being classed as ‘plebs.’ When you live in a wine growing region you learn that the growers and locals actually drink what they like when eating meat or fish. Here, as in some regions of France, the wines drunk with meals is produced locally which is how it should be, after all wine is to be enjoyed, savoured, loved and enjoyed. The wines in Catalunya are superbe and can be found in good restaurants in New York. As for the CAVA, this is a soft, natural, palatable, sparkling wine (unlike champagne to which sugar is added) and is, in my opinion, the best.
