About Ewan

Ewan Lacey

Who are you?

Where to begin…

Any media work?

Sure. Lots of that. Write for the Sunday Mirror on Food and Wine. Sidekick on The Gaby Roslin Show BBC Radio London. Wine and Drinks Expert, Channel 4’s ‘The Cookery School’ with Richard and Gizzi (shame it didn’t last.) Pop up appearances on the BBC, everything from Simon Mayo Show to The Great British Bake Off; Five Live Drive to the BBC News Channel. Such heights!

Plenty of other magazine, press and online pieces too: ‘Google’ ‘Ewan Lacey + Wine’ and see how many results there are.

Live Events?

You bet. BBC Good Food Show. MasterChef Live! The Wine Show. Harvest at Jimmy’s. The Ideal Home Show. Glynde Festival of English Food and Wine. The Real Food Festival of Cheese and Wine.

Doing what?

Interviewing people. Talking about wine (no surprises there.) Matching food and wine. How to make your own champagne. Co-piloting Chef Demo Stage. Hanging around back stage. Holding a Beer vs Wine Contest.

Industry expertise?

After I realised I’d never stick it as a lawyer, spent time in the trenches selling wine to restaurants and hotels including some very good places, some excellent and some I don’t go to anymore…

Is that it?

Judge for the IWSC. Host events for CIVB (Bordeaux Wine Council, since you ask.) Writing, filming and showing off on behalf of a long list of top brands.

Corporate Events?

Ah yes, sir, my speciality. No, but seriously, I don’t share my client list publicly if you want any testimonials message me.

Suffice to say my wonderful services have helped enliven networking events, client entertaining and much more for Global Law Firms; Financial Institutions; Media Groups; Airlines; Purveyors of Luxury Goods; An Orchestra; Car Company; More Lawyers; Banks; Consulting firms; Accountancy firms, Think-Tanks and even Charities.

  1. Dear Sir,

I have two bottles of old sherry.

They are completely intact, with the original label, containing the liquor and the bottles still have the original seal.

Produced bottled and shipped by sanchez de alba & co sherry growers and shippers.

    They are produced around 1950.

Can i still drink them, or you think i better sell them?

    Thank you so much
    Best regards

    • Hi Rebekka, it depends on what type of sherry it is, I’ve certainly had sherry of that age that was good. I can’t give you investment advice; if it was me, I’d be very tempted to drink them :-)

  2. Hi Ewan
You did a wine cellar for us at Gilads house, Fitzroy Park, Highgate about four years ago.
It seems you are not in the wine cellar business any more, shame!
Can you recommend anyone I might contact to work on a wine cellar for a barn conversion project for clients in Gloucestershire.
    Thanks
    Mark

  3. Hi Ewan,

My name’s Sophie Burluraux and I’m a third year journalism student at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston, and member of the student publishing house, Revista Publishing.
My group and I have been asked to produce a business to business magazine for an assignment and we’ve chosen to aim ours (The Wine Press) at vineyard owners/wine manufacturers. One of the features is about up and coming events- one of which being The Glynde Food and English Wine Festival 2012. We’ve been informed that you are involved in it this year and so we were wondering whether you’d be able to give us some quotes about what you’re going to be doing, what you’re most looking forward to, etc.

If this would be possible then it would be really appreciated if you could reply to this email, revistapublishing@gmail.com

    Regards,

    Sophie Burluraux

  4. Hi there, I represent Amara, the online destination for luxury & designer hame brands. We wondered if Ewan would be interetsed in doing a product review or/and a guest blog for us and we can help with linking and perhaps do a piece on Riedel glasses, the correct style of glass for the correct wine? If we can help and partnership for mutual benefit, please contact me, kind regards Karen
